People working together

The RES-MOVE (Resources on the Move) project, co-funded by the European Union’s Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF), aims to strengthen the social and economic inclusion of migrants by transforming coworking spaces into inclusive hubs of collaboration, learning, and opportunity.

Within this framework, the Academy of Entrepreneurship, as project coordinator, has developed strategic collaborations with four coworking spaces in Athens, supporting the design and implementation of targeted, community-based actions. These initiatives translate the project’s vision into practice, addressing real needs of migrant communities while demonstrating how coworking environments can foster inclusion, empowerment, and participation.

ANKAA Project: A holistic model for integration through skills and community

At the heart of Kypseli, ANKAA Project operates a multifunctional space that combines education, vocational training, and community support. Through the RES-MOVE initiative, ANKAA is implementing a programme that integrates Greek language learning, tailoring training, and access to an open creative lab, creating a comprehensive pathway to both social and professional integration.

Participants are supported through hands-on learning and collaborative activities that build practical skills while strengthening community bonds. This approach not only enhances employability but also reduces social isolation and fosters a strong sense of belonging within the local ecosystem.

Impact Hub Athens: Creative skills and entrepreneurship as pathways to inclusion

Impact Hub Athens is implementing a series of hands-on workshops that combine creative expression with entrepreneurial development. Participants engage in activities such as jewellery making, gardening, and ceramics, alongside sessions focused on business skills and empowerment.

By bridging creativity with entrepreneurship, the initiative equips migrants and refugees with practical, marketable skills while creating opportunities to connect with local professionals and networks. This approach positions participants not only as beneficiaries but as active contributors to the local economy and community.

Sektor30: “Making” as a shared language for cultural exchange

Through its programme “Making as Cultural Practice: Objects & Narratives”, Sektor30 uses art and craftsmanship as tools for inclusion. The initiative brings together participants in workshops focused on ceramics and printmaking, encouraging them to explore personal and cultural narratives through creative expression.

By using “making” as a shared language, the programme transcends linguistic and cultural barriers, fostering intercultural dialogue, collaboration, and collective storytelling. The outcome is not only the creation of artistic works but also the strengthening of relationships and mutual understanding among participants.

WHEN Hub: Supporting women’s financial empowerment

At the WHEN Hub, a coworking space dedicated to women and families, the focus is on financial literacy and economic empowerment for migrant and refugee women. The programme includes practical workshops on budgeting, savings, and financial management, delivered in an inclusive environment that also provides childcare support, ensuring accessibility for all participants.

By addressing both knowledge gaps and structural barriers, the initiative supports women in gaining confidence, managing their resources effectively, and strengthening their participation in economic and social life.

From coworking spaces to inclusive ecosystems

These four initiatives demonstrate how coworking spaces can move beyond their traditional role and become drivers of inclusion and social impact. By combining learning, creativity, entrepreneurship, and community support, they create environments where migrants can develop skills, build networks, and actively participate in society.

Through these local actions in Athens, RES-MOVE contributes to a broader European effort to redefine coworking spaces as inclusive ecosystems, capable of responding to the challenges of integration while unlocking the potential of diverse communities.
