People working together

The CarboFarmHub project, funded by the European Union, aims to raise awareness and build capacity around carbon farming practices across Europe. Through a dynamic network of awareness hubs in different countries, the project supports the exchange of knowledge, techniques, and innovations in sustainable agriculture—particularly among young people and farmers.

In Greece, the Academy of Entrepreneurship played a key role in delivering the educational vision of the project by organizing a series of four webinars in Spring 2025, all held in Greek and open to the public. Each webinar featured expert speakers, real-life applications, and interactive discussions on how carbon farming can be part of a regenerative and economically viable agricultural future.

Here’s what happened in each session:

🌿 Webinar 1 (March 27, 2025): Organic Farming and Carbon Sequestration

In the opening session, Lambros Antonopoulos, an experienced organic olive oil producer, introduced practical methods for implementing carbon farming in organic olive groves. He discussed how sustainable soil management and natural cultivation techniques can improve carbon capture while supporting product quality.
Audience feedback emphasized the value of real-life examples and the importance of hearing directly from practitioners in the field.

🌱 Webinar 2 (April 3, 2025): Regenerative Agriculture in Practice

This webinar focused on the daily reality of regenerative agriculture. Giannis Zanias, Farm Manager and Agribusiness Consultant, shared his experience applying regenerative practices since 2022. He discussed soil needs, techniques used, benefits observed, and the connection with carbon farming. Participants appreciated the transparent sharing of challenges, results, and lessons learned.
Key takeaway: Regenerative farming is not a one-size-fits-all approach—it evolves with the land.

🧪 Webinar 3 (April 10, 2025): From Soil to Community – The GOV4ALL Experience in Greece

This session shifted the focus to a more systemic level. Christianna Gardikioti presented the EU-funded project GOV4ALL, which promotes participatory governance models for soil health. Through living labs and rural regeneration hubs in Mediterranean countries, the project connects farmers, scientists, NGOs, and policymakers to co-create place-based solutions for soil recovery.
The session sparked strong interest in collaborative, community-driven initiatives and how they complement field-based practices.

🚜 Webinar 4 (April 17, 2025): Carbon Farming and Entrepreneurship

Closing the series, Andreas Stefanidis, Youth Entrepreneurship Consultant and President of the Academy of Entrepreneurship, explored the link between sustainable farming and entrepreneurial opportunity. In collaboration with New Agriculture New Generation, he highlighted training programs, support tools, and business opportunities available for young people seeking to enter or innovate in the rural sector.
Participants noted how empowering it was to learn about available resources and how sustainability can go hand-in-hand with economic development.

💬 Reflections and Impact

All webinars were delivered live via Zoom, recorded, and made freely accessible to maximize reach. The sessions attracted a diverse audience—young farmers, students, agronomists, educators, and entrepreneurs—and opened up dialogue on how carbon farming can become a realistic and rewarding path in Greek agriculture.

The feedback received was overwhelmingly positive. Participants valued the combination of expert knowledge and practical stories, and several requested follow-up workshops, field visits, and materials. The series successfully blended environmental awareness with skill-building and entrepreneurial insight.
