Allon I3’s Third Capacity Building Event
Strengthening Regional Innovation through Collaboration

The third study visit of the Allon I3 – Alliance on Interregional Innovation Investments project took place in Évora, Portugal, providing partners with the opportunity to explore the local innovation landscape and strengthen collaboration within EU value chains. Allon I3 is a European Union-funded initiative aimed at enhancing innovation ecosystems in less developed regions by fostering interregional collaboration, capacity building, and investment strategies. Through targeted activities, the project supports regional policymakers and stakeholders in identifying and structuring innovation investments that drive sustainable socio-economic growth.
Case Studies: Enlaight and Alice4u
Two Portuguese companies, Enlaight and Alice4u, were presented as case studies, allowing project partners to apply practical tools gained through previous capacity-building activities. These case studies showcased innovative approaches to business development and provided valuable insights into how companies can leverage funding mechanisms and partnerships within innovation ecosystems.

A key highlight of the visit was an in-depth presentation by ADRAL, the Portuguese partner of Allon I3, which provided a comprehensive overview of the startup investment landscape in Portugal. This session helped participants understand the dynamics of regional investment and the strategic approaches necessary to foster innovation-driven growth.
Visits to Leading Companies: DECSIS Center and Sharish Gin Distillery
The study visit also included site visits to two notable Portuguese businesses:

Learning from Best Practices: The ‘IN PORTUGAL’ Project
Partners had the opportunity to learn about “IN PORTUGAL,” a successful regional investment initiative. This session provided key insights into financing structures and strategic planning that support regional innovation and investment. Understanding such best practices equips stakeholders with the knowledge to drive similar projects in their respective regions.
A Step Forward in Strengthening Regional Innovation
The Évora study visit marked another milestone in the Allon I3 project’s mission to enhance the capacity of regional innovation ecosystems in less developed areas.
