Andreas Stefanidis – Co-founder and President
In 2007, Andreas co-founded a European not–for–profit organization, the Academy of Entrepreneurship, aiming to offer specialized short courses and webinars to innovative young entrepreneurs of Greece and the surrounding countries of South Eastern Europe. The Academy of Entrepreneurship has a European trademark and is supported by the Educational Association of Athens, “Hfaistos”, founded in 1935.
Andreas Stefanidis is also the President of the Federation of Hellenic Associations of Young Entrepreneurs – ESYNE. ESYNE is the National member for Greece, since 2002, of the European Confederation of Young Entrepreneurs, YES and the Host organization of the Global Entrepreneurship Network in Greece.
He is also the Founder and Managing Director of the Hellenic Management Accounting Centre, an innovative training and consultancy centre responsible for the provision of preparatory courses for the examinations of the professional qualification of Chartered Management Accountant and consultancy services for start-up businesses.
Andreas has been teaching Financial, Managerial and Cost Accounting courses at the State University of New York at New Paltz since 2004 as a visiting faculty. He has been offering vocational seminars in Entrepreneurship and Management Accounting to young entrepreneurs in Greece and other European countries.
Andreas’ next vision is to support sustainable and innovative, business ideas through Aephoria.net, the first business accelerator for sustainable business ideas in Europe.
Dr. Thomais Roussou – English Language Specialist
Dr. Thomais Roussou is a multi-lingual University Professor with decades of teaching and administrative experience. She builds excellent relationship with faculty, staff and students to create the best possible learning environment. As a principal, turned her school into the #1 in the region for academics. Creates customized courses to differentiate her program from all others.
Dr. Roussou holds a Ph.D : in English Literature, (1988 Wayne State University – Detroit, MI, USA) Area of Specialization: 19th Century American Literature. Dissertation Title : “The Status of the Artist in Hawthorne’s novels. She also has a M.A :in Classical studies, (Greek and Latin with emphasis in Greek) (1977Wayne State University – Detroit, MI, USA). Her B.A :in Languages (Greek and English Languages and Literatures) (1972 National and Capodistrian University of Athens – Athens, Greece).
Dr. Roussou has had years of teaching experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Wayne State University (1975-1985) having taught Greek Tragedy, Mythology and Etymology as well as Essay writing, Composition, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Remedial English.. Later on as Lecturer/Director-of the Modern Greek Studies Program Wayne State University – Detroit, MI. taught all levels of Modern Greek and expanded the program with the addition of Greek Literature courses.
Back in Greece in 1990 she worked from September 1990 to September 1993 for New York College – Athens -Greece which operated in Greece as a branch of The State University of New York / New Paltz.. There she established and, directed the English Program and taught some of the courses ( English as a Second Language (ESL) (beginning-intermediate-advanced); Freshman Composition I and II Designed and taught new course: “Myth Symbol and Fable in Literature”)
In September 1993 she entered the public sector and until January 2003 she taught English at the 2nd Intercultural Junior High at Elliniko (–Athens-Greece. ) In January 2003 she was elected Principal at the 2nd Junior high of Argyroupoli –( Athens – Greece) . In that position which she held until January 2014 she revolutionized the school and turned it into a top ranked school in the region. She handled all administrative tasks, and improved overall function of the school . She also taught English as a Second Language (ESL) and filled in for other teachers of any subject as needed.
During the years of service in the various positions Dr. Roussou was invited as lecturer in several occasions, participated in Conference presentations both in Greece and Europe. She also participated and attended European Programs (Comenius-Arion) She specializes in training teachers, management and leadership and organizational techniques.
She is fluent in English and Greek, has good knowledge of French and is proficient in IT.
Dr. Maria Giannacourou – Research Director
Organizational Psychologist and Human Factors Specialist. Member of the Adjunct Faculty at the Hellenic Open University (School of Social Sciences) teaching management courses in undergraduate and graduate level. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Maryland, USA, an M.Sc. in Industrial Psychology from Hull University, U.K. and a PhD in Decision Making, Strategic Planning & Ergonomics from the University of Piraeus (GR). She has extensive professional experience in business consulting and she has been a Senior Researcher and Team Leader in various national and international research projects (HUFIT, EURET, ADAPT). A co-founder of the Hellenic Ergonomics Society, she has written the book “Contemporary Ergonomics” in Greek, and has published in peer-reviewed conference proceedings and scientific journals.
Alessandro Carbone – Social Innovation Director
Master’s in Divinity (Rome, 1987) and in Social Work (Chicago, 1992). He has performed his professional practice first as a Sociology professor on an academic level, later on as a coordinator of residential services for foster care children in Milano. Since 1992 as part time, and since 1996 as full-time freelancer he has operated as adult trainer, consultant, supervisor and researcher in the social field for public authorities and private companies, for the health sector as well as for the social service sector. At the same time he performed teaching and updated training courses for professionals in the social and health area in Italy and abroad. In 1997 he has been involved, as professional social worker, in the EU “Horizon” program and this experience started his involvement in EU funded projects which through time increased constantly. Now, after having also completed related studies at the Venice International University, he works full time as project designer, consultant, manager, and evaluator of different European programmes, for several clients in Italy and in Europe. He is fully involved in supporting private and public organisations in filing EU projects, and he also delivers training services also for clients among which are the Ministries and Regional Authorities in Italy. With other colleagues, experts in EU project design, he has created a consulting company in Verona (Italy) – ThinkEurope Consulting – which now places value on the long expertise and wide transnational connections which he and his co-workers have developed through time. His European imprinting is also represented by his private life: he was born in Germany, raised in his home country Italy, and got married with a Greek psychologist, and therefore he speaks Italian, German, English, and Greek. His only son has dual citizenship as of his birth. Thanks to this transnational life conditions he aims to unite in practice, besides in theory, the different cultures and nations which compose the European Union.
Theodore Alexiou – Co-founder and General Secretary
Theodore is one of the pioneers of the idea of Youth Entrepreneurship in Greece. He is the founder of the first Association of Young Entrepreneurs in 1996 and continues until today to provide assistance to Young Entrepreneurs as a business consultant, as a Mentor and as a trainer.
He is the author of two books on EU procedures (Procedures of EU – Eurasia Editions) and psychology and marketing (Are You Serious? – Plethora Editions).He has won the international award “Most Innovative People – Inspiring Ideas” in 2008 in Dubai. He is a Tech. Civil Engineer with postgraduate studies in Marketing and Management and a Master in Adult Education.
Evangelos Achillopoulos – Policy Member
Evangelos is excited to innovate and pursue unique solutions to challenging problems, an avid business philosopher, inventor, serial entrepreneur, IP specialist and industrial design engineer focused on ergonomics and product marketing. He likes to provoke with innovation and out of the box thinking. He has more than 25 years experience in innovation, R&D, marketing and product development on all aspects of Software, Electronic and Mechanical engineering.
Entrepreneur and Innovator since the age of 17, he has been designing and building products that he markets and sells. From VHF marine antenna systems, renewable energy data logging telemetry systems, industrial freezer automation mass production electronics, news broadcasting specialized effects units, radio station ads/jingles play-out servers to sophisticated ERP Software systems for TV station wide, management and play-out.
He is a Pioneer in TV studio tapeless technology with international patents and intellectual property license agreements around the world. In his entrepreneurial life he has had more than four full business lifecycles, with second round investments, exits and failures. He is an experienced innovator eager to create value and bring radical changes.
He studied Electrical Engineering at the Technological Institute of Crete and he is married with three children, living in Athens, Greece.
Aliki Anagnosti – Partnerships Director
Aliki has a keen interest in entrepreneurship and she is co-founder of Yourtranslator.gr. She aims to help aspiring entrepreneurs in Greece pursue their dreams through the right resources and networks. She holds a Masters degree in Chinese Studies and Business from the University of Edinburgh and she is highly involved in the international startup scene being Greece’s Regional Manager for the World Startup Report initiative, and the Local Ambassador and Organizer in Greece for the Hello Tomorrow competition for tech-science startups. As a professional translator and interpreter, she speaks English, French, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese.
Anestis Anastasiou – Training expert
Anestis (born 14.07.1972) has studied initially Mechanical Engineering in London (University College London) getting his BEng and continued with a Masters in Energy Utilisation and Management (City University). He afterwards studied Business Administration and got a Masters in International Management (Kings College London & London School of Economics). His professional experience does include working for an important Tour Operator in the UK, as well as working for various International Companies at a series of managerial positions.
In addition he obtained a series of other professional qualifications: Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education Teaching (giving him the right to teach at a university level), Proficiency in Hospitality Management from Ecole Hotelier de Lausanne. He is Certified Hospitality Trainer at the American Hotel & Lodging Association and Certified Performance Consultant from World Training Conference (Atlanta, Georgia, USA in 2008). His teaching and corporate training experience exceeds 5500 hours and specializes in: customer service and sales techniques, management and leadership, professional development programs, as well as train the trainer. He has been a lecturer for over a decade at various private colleges in Greece in business & management modules, in cooperation with reputable Universities abroad, in both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Since 2009, he has been teaching at University of Macedonia and International Hellenic University.
In 2001 he founded and since then runs “AA&Partners” (www.training.gr), a corporate training and human resources services provider. Mainly focusing towards the hospitality, leisure and retail industry, AA&Partners holds an ISO 9001, a unique certification for a company in the field in Greece! He is currently President of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Northern Greece and Chief Promoter of Entrepreneurs Commons – Thessaloniki Chapter.
He is fluent in Greek, English and German, has basic knowledge of French and Spanish and is a proficient IT and modern communication technologies user. He is highly mobile, likes international travelling and has an extensive experience in various business sectors.
Adrian Sienkiewicz – Intern
Adrian Sienkiewicz is a Polish 24 years old law graduate. He completed his degree at University of Warsaw. He also studied under Erasmus+ programme for a semester in Brno, Czech Republic taking courses in European Law. He participated in Erasmus+ youth exchanges and training courses. He is excited to combine his law knowledge with entrepreneurial attitude and international experience to help development of Academy of Entrepreneurship and to benefit from this experience in his professional career.
Cevina Ghuman – AIESEC Volunteer
This is Cevina Ghuman, an 18 years old Commerce student studying in the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. With previous experience in promoting and fundraising for various organizations in Canada, she plans on combining her knowledge from business school and past experiences to help bring success to the Academy of Entrepreneurship and reach its full potential.
Iraklis Stratigis – Website I.T. Expert
Iraklis was born in Athens in October 1992. He is currently studying Computer Engineering at the Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus. He has worked on various projects, especially in the field of website design and maintenance.
As a self directed person, he strives for the best possible results in everything he does. In order to stay at the cutting edge of web development and design, he is continually evaluating and upgrading his skills.
Aspa Lekka – Marketing Specialist
Aspa was born in Ioannina in May 1989. Having studied mathematics at University of Ioannina and playing handball for a few years, Aspa spent a year abroad in the UK and China working as Marketing and PR specialist. Getting back to Greece, Aspa started running her own advertising company. In the meantime, she enrolled in the Academy of Entrepreneurship as it was an opportunity for her to help young entrepreneurs find about funding and working possibiltites within the EU.
